Viet Expo 2026: Why Small Businesses Need Fewer Tools, Not More AI
On Nov 8 I'm speaking at Viet Expo 2026 in Mississauga: small business owners don't lack tools, they lack a few systems that bring in customers. Free entry.
I'm speaking at Viet Expo 2026 on Sunday, November 8, 2026, at the Oasis Convention Centre in Mississauga. My message to small and medium business owners is simple: you don't need more tools or more AI. You need a few systems that bring in customers and give you back hours every week. Entry is free, and you can register at VietExpo.ca.
What is Viet Expo 2026?
Viet Expo 2026 is a one-day business expo organized by the Vietnamese Canadian Professional Association (VCPA). It brings together Vietnamese-Canadian business owners, professionals and newcomers who want to build a business or a career in Canada.
- Date: Sunday, November 8, 2026, 10 AM – 5 PM
- Venue: Oasis Convention Centre, 1036 Lakeshore Rd E, Mississauga, ON L5E 1E4
- Entry: free, registration at VietExpo.ca
- Door prize: an iPhone 18 Pro Max draw, open only to guests who register and attend
- Title sponsor: Renso Foods
Who is speaking at Viet Expo 2026?
I'm sharing the stage with six speakers from very different industries:
- Tonya Currie — Vice President, Home Financing Solutions, Scotiabank
- Dr. Johnny Nguyen — Founder, Toronto Beauty & Restoration Medical Centres
- Tai Nguyen — President, Renso Foods and Renso Ko-Bites
- Charlie Thai — Owner, AVP Solutions
- Hoan Do — CEO and Co-founder, Wizy Canada; CEO, CookConnects
- Loc Duong — Founder, ACE Contractor Group; Co-founder, ACE Woodworks and Wizy Canada
That mix is the point of the event: banking, healthcare, food, construction and technology in one room, all talking to the same community.
What will I talk about?
Technology for small and medium businesses. It's a continuation of the talk I gave at the VCPA monthly meeting in August 2026, Growing Your Business with Technology in the AI Era.
Most owners I meet are not short of software. They already pay for a website builder, a booking app, a CRM they rarely open and two or three AI subscriptions. What they are short of is a system: the tools connected so that a new customer finds you, books, gets reminded, comes back and leaves a review, without the owner doing every step by hand.
Three ideas I'll bring to the stage:
- Start from the customer journey, not the tool. Map how a customer finds you, buys and returns. Then fix the weakest step first.
- Use AI where it saves hours. Replying to messages, following up on leads, drafting posts and videos. These are tasks a small team repeats every day.
- Measure one number per system. Calls from Google Maps, booked appointments, repeat customers. If it doesn't move, change it.
I'll use real examples from our work at Wizy, where we run marketing and build software for Ontario businesses, and at CookConnects.
Why does this matter for the Vietnamese-Canadian community?
Many Vietnamese-Canadian businesses (restaurants, nail salons, contractors, clinics, grocery and food brands) run on word of mouth and the owner's own hours. That works until the owner runs out of hours. AI has made marketing and software far cheaper than they were three years ago, so the gap between a family business and a well-funded competitor is now mostly about knowing what to set up. That is something we can close as a community, and events like Viet Expo are where it starts.
